It's grupa cheoil time again & auditions will be held this Sat 11th Feb at the Gaelscoil between 10:30am-12 midday.

The Comhaltas & Fred Finn Annual Church Gate Collection takes place on Saturday February 18th and Sunday February 19th.
The closing date for Comhaltas exams is tomorrow Sat 10th Dec. (Entry form and details are attached in PDF)

The 19th annual Ballintogher Traditional Music Festival takes place in Ballintogher, Co. Sligo between 16th-28th October next. Details on events below.

Important date for your diaries is Tuesday next when registration for music classes takes place. We welcome back all of our current students and we welcome new members too.
Sligo County Fleadh 2016 form and dates
Please note that the closing date is strictly 4pm Friday 15th April '16. No entries can be accepted after this date. Also please ensure that all your members or musicians in your area, entering the Fleadh are registered as CCÉ members, otherwise they pay treble price for each Fleadh entry. I would appreciate if you could ask all Branch PROs to put this notice of this in local area notes in Sligo Champion & Weekender, and also in your local church notes to inform all of the closing date. Annual Comhaltas Church Gate Collection
Volunteers are needed to help with our annual Comhaltas Church Gate Collection for Branch activities this 20th and 21st February.
'Macalla 1916' set for Sligo April 2nd next
A new suite of music commemorating the centenary of the 1916 Rising, entitled Macalla 1916, composed by our own Michael Rooney, will be staged at the Knocknarea Arena in Sligo on Saturday April 2nd at 8:30pm. Ticket details here ....

Comhaltas Music Exams Spring 2014
Comhaltas exams for traditional Irish musicians are run on an annual basis in the springtime.The system is similar to the classical music and drama exams you may already be familiar with. Many children find these annual exams very beneficial to mark and examine their progress in music. The Fred Finn Branch encourages children to participate in these exams on an annual basis.

Here are the results of the Connacht Fleadh 2013, which took place in Carrick on Shannon between June 30th and July 7th. Well done to all of the Fred Finn members who did so well throughout the weekend.

The Seisiún kicks off in the Glasshouse Hotel on this Wednesday night 3rd July at 8.30pm . We have a great group of young Fred Finn musicians who have put together a superb performance act of music, song & dance.

The Ardchomhairle of Comhaltas, meeting in Dublin at the weekend, awarded Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2014 to Sligo.
De Cuellar Suite a great success at TradFest
Some of our members performed as part of the De Cuellar Suite in Christchurch Cathedral in Dublin on Saturday 26th January last. The night was a tremendous success, so our congratulations go out to Michael Rooney, who composed and conducted the piece, as well as to all of the musicians and to the backroom team.
